not without a clutch

How many times have you had to listen to your boyfriends, husbands and parents tell you: how many bags you've got already? you really need one more? where are you going to store it?? Myself, infinite times. But I have my forceful answer always ready: "never have too many bags". I remember my whole afternoons in the bags-market in Guangzhou, imagine a several-story building full of bags (only bags), my paradise (not my pocket's)

As my fashionist taste goes in phases, now I'm in the moment of: I love everything handle-free. Yes, super comfy, now I even find "not very cool" going out a Saturday with a hanging bag, at most a long crossbody bag (but do not cross it, please!)

If you are one of those who still associate hand bag with black-tie event, like weddings...my dears, let me tell you're wrong, have a look:

- Envelope clutch, big enough for the working girls.

- Rustic bag, with a hippie touch, for the boho urban girls.

- Sparkling bag for the evenings out (in chic urban terrace, tapas bar..)

- Jewel bag, to finish a perfect and polished outfit.

- Vanity bag (I have just given this name), to carry everything and everywhere, I'm an addict of this kind of casual bags (the name "vanity bag" isn't a joke!)

I don't want to forget the super stylish men with a nice clutch under the arm (a very italian touch), I love them!

Tell me, have I managed to convince you to start wearing handbags daily?

my ETHNIC bloggers' post

It is about time since I haven't searched in the international blogosphere, so there we go! Considering Isabel Marant (and much others) goes on filling the catwalks with ethnic elements, navajo prints (I assume you all know already what it is!), feathers and fringes, suede and leather. So, why don't search bloggers from these inspiring cultures? with ethnic, racial and exotic features and style, pure trend. They don't need much more ornaments, lucky of them!

Isabel Marant FW11/12

This time I have crossed the Atlantic, territory that I had lately a bit "abandoned"...

1.  Fashion Dahat: from Peru, a stunning blogger. Such a professional blog she's got! She's daring with her combinations, but she always brings out her ethnic natural beauty. Superb!

2. Excuse, hablas Fashion: is there any better name for a fashion blog?! Though she doesn't appear much (why not?!), but her blog is so trendy, plenty of cool stylisms and runway shots. A must see among the latins!

3. Prefiro Champagne: a Brazilian with an artistic blog, it is something different, it's worthy to visit, her pictures are of great quality and originality.

Me encanta su post "my roots"!

4. Preppy fashionist: an Ecuatorian in the Netherlands, what an interesting mix! She knows how to bring out this combination, her latin features + the Dutch boho chic. I like her post "my roots"!

5. The fash light: from Mexico (by the way, the 2nd country of readers of my blog!), I couldn't forget the Aztec country! She is herself not very "ethnic", but she's got that latin own style mixed with native touchs (do you remember my idea that every nationality has its own fashion personality?)

I want to use this opportunity to say hello and thank to all my latinamerican followers, I'm so proud of so many readers from so far!

happy DRAGON & PRINTS year

I couldn't let the time goes without dedicating a post to the Chinese New Year, the great year of the DRAGON! I perfectly remember how people live in Chine these days, it is something much more intense than our Christmas, the decoration of every single and remote town and city is awesome. I had the opportunity to spend there during the pig, rat and cow year, but I wish I could have stayed during a Dragon year...the most powerful and strongest! It is also considered the Guard of the treasure and wisdom, which animal gives more?

Now you're thinking what all of this is about a fashion blog...a lot, I think. Fashion trends are not far from what it is happening in the environment..that's why I want to watch to the Chinese style prints seen on catwalks for this Spring.

You are with me, quite a number of them are Chinese style. The D&G one seems to be got from a Ming dinasty vase!

Talking about chinese vases, the master of this kind of prints is Mary Katrantzou, you probably didn't heard about her (I did recently, to be honest...), but she's already the favourite of fashion victim Anna de lo Russo and our beloved Alexa Chung. You can have something made by her, she's collaborating with Topshop!

Having said this, I'm not much a fan of bright and extravagant prints (ha!) but it's true that combining it properly we can get a different and stylish outfit. I advise you to go for two or three garments, in this order:

- Scarves: the easiest to find, to combine and to add to almost any ensemble. I do have some and love to wear them over plain shirts and jumpers.

- Faldas: me chiflan y rechiflan.
- Skirts: you know how much I love them? Funny and bright prints leave them for skirts, shorter or midi are more discreet. The rest of the outfit, go sober and full of basics.

- Kimonos (I know, this is not chinese but japanese...): it is more risqué and not a daily garment, this kind of big prints are quickly tiring.., but you can find a top with a  nice chinese print, you'll be not invisible!

Happy new chinese year, I wish the dragon power goes with you!!!

the new PURITANISM

Yesterday I received a newsletter from Topshop, with a shocking title "puritan neutrals".This made me think, and when I think I write, so there it goes my post about the new puritanism.

Topshop

Everything is already changing in catwalks where models used to walk with staggering low cut neck, to-the-belly undone blouses and impossible openings in skirts, but now what we see in highways is more similar to what we find in the street, a strong trend to the renovated puritanism. It is the natural consequence of the abuse of something, the immediate response is the opposite, that's what we are going to see this spring after stuffing ourselves with the color block last year.

What I have been observing, and feeling myself, is a more demure daily outfit. See why I say this:

- Loose, rounded-neck and big shaped jumpers are on hot trend. I am so hooked on this kind of garments, soft and delicate, I even buy them one size bigger, I don't want them to accentuate more than necessary...

- Wear a Midi-skirt is so cool now, and I'm not talking about the body-con one, which insinuate women figure and exalt the feminity, I'm talking about wide, volume skirts, more typical of postwar periods.

- Done-up shirts: it's not longer cool to show many inches down the neckline, now blouses should be well buttoned up, a good example is the success of the bowed shirts. If the top has not a proper collar, you can always put a detachable one, every fashionist should have at least one yet.

- Pastel colors: far from the bright fuchsia and passion red, or the last summer neons, this spring we will all turn sweeter, naïver..because the pastel and neutrals will be our new basics.

- Tucked-in top: this is something I like a lot now, I say now because I remember when I quarreled with my mother because I liked to wear the uniform blouse untucked ;) In my opinion, wearing the shirt tucked into trousers and skirts gives a tidy image.

Do you agree with this "good girl" trend? how long will it take us to turn to low neck, mini skirts and bright colors?

I'm a BOB girl

It is said that when someone doesn't dare to make a change in his life, he ends to change his hairstyle. I don't know if following this premise or just because I've turned tired of the long hair, I got my hair Bobstyle cut. As bold as you like, I went to my Hairdresser with a picture of Olivia Palermo. I know this is not the bravest Bob cut, but I'm in love with these over-the-shoulder perfect curls.

my personal Bob

- Long Bob: para cara redonda
- Demi Bob: para cara más fina
- Bob a capas largas: para pelo rizado
- Bob gradual: para pelo muy fino

According to the experts (I'm not) the key concepts are:
-Long Bob: for rounded face
-Demi Bob: for thiner face
-Long layered Bob: for curly hair
-Graduated Bob: for very thin hair

We all have in mind that perfect and enviable Rachel's cut in Friends, I do belive part of Jennifer Aniston's success in the series was her hairstyle!

Victoria Beckham was another who bet on this cut, her style was wide copied, but to be honest, I didn't like much the whole ensemble: so thin face + so elongated and asymmetric cut...

In an ultra straight and shiny version, the always perfect Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow and the super stylish Keira Knightley are the references.

I like much the fringed Bob, that I would call "Anna Wintour cut". This is very flattering for rounded faces. I also like Alexa's style, though I don't know if this can be called Bob too...

But if there's a style I really love, this is the grunge bog. Maybe because my hair is a bit grunge too (curly and with own personality!), but this is the one I identify most with. Don't you find so flattering the one Scarlett, Diane Krugger, Liv Tayler or Nicole Richie wear?

Have you ever been a "Bob girl"? if you're thinking in a hairstyle cut, you should go doubtless for any of this variations, they're on catwalks already!

p.d. what about you bloggers, most of you still wear classy long hair!!!

sales shopping & more

I assume you're not only fashionists but shoppinists, like me. We love both fashion and shopping, because to be honest, we do not need anything, but really need everything, don't we? Now it's sales time, and I'm a bit tired of the clothes seen in the shops for 6 months already, I think, if I haven't bought them yet, I wouldn't make the most of them, already in January... That's why I try (just try) to get those garments I know I will use them in the next season or they are my own classic-basics.

I'm going to share with you my "vissionaire ideas" for these sales:

1. Pastel blouses & tops: yes, say goodbye to the color block, now soft, pastels and neutrals tones are on trend. I'm so happy, ...I'm a bit naïf!

SS12 Philip Lim 3.1 vs Zara & Massimo Dutti
2. Whool Blazers: never have too many, now I want a preppy style green blazer. The "good american girl" look is back.

Zara & Massimo Dutti
3. Tribal skirt: I'm a lover of the ensemble special skirt + basics, this time I'll go for a etnic print skirt, this print will be again on fashion this spring, then... I do need one!

Burberry Prorsum, Zara & ASOS
4. Little white dresses: my favourite. Most of them I have, except those beachwear style, I wear them during the year. I love the combination light little dress + chunky jumper. So I'll look for some more for this spring, sleeveless and with a bit of lace or crochet, I'll add the final touch with bright accessories.

Dolce & Gabanna, Massimo Dutti & Asos.

5. Metallics: yes, they'll live a bit more. It's very easy to find something of-the-season at a good price. I want something with a mix of soft knit and metallic touch, something very easy-to-go with the pastel and neutral hues which will abund in my wardrobe next season.

spring 2012 trend, stradivarius

6. Removable collars: I knew, I fell in love with this trend. I already have a sequined collar, but I'm now in the mood of a more casual one...the collars à la Chung are with us for a while.
